Since 1 January 2011, Bianca Sistermans has been working on a series of portraits in words and images about people who have lost their mother, Long shall she live! When my mother died, chatting did too. Here on the right, you can find a selection of these portraits, which include: Ger van Elk, Annika van der Bij, Anita Joosstens, Sita van Marrewijk, Tobias Reijngoud and Peter Vos.
(The translation of the interviews is not yet available).
Ger van Elk: 'She never knew of my success.'
Annika van der Bij: 'There was no reciprocity between me and my mother.'
Anita Joosstens:' . . . there sat my mother, with broken eyes. Dead. Bugger, Cootje, buggeration!'
Sita van Marrewijk: 'I wanted to be off, to eat a chocolate éclair, at that very moment she upped and died.'
Tobias Reijngoud: 'Oughtn’t I have done a lot more, made more contact?'
Peter Vos: 'After her death my mother has only become increasingly mysterious to me.'
